PP728 Soilborne Plant Pathogens
Description
In-depth study of ecology of soilborne fungal and bacterial pathogens
inducing root and wilt diseases in plants. Concepts and principles
including but not limited to the soil fungistasis, rhizosphere,
inoculum density-disease relationships, survival, environment and
root disease, and managing soilborne pathogens with emphasis on
biological control.
Course Goals
- Understand the biology of several soilborne plant pathogens
- Examine principles affecting diseases caused by soilborne
plant pathogens
- Evaluate strategies for management of soilborne plant pathogens
- Introduce students to interpretation of literature
- Learn and demonstrate techniques for studying soilborne plant
pathogens
