PP728 Requirements & Policies
Lecture
Students are expected to attend each lecture and to participate
in class discussions. Three 1-hr examinations are scheduled.
Each exam will count 25% of your grade in the course.
No textbook is required. A lecture outline, required readings,
and supplemental references will be provided for each lecture. Some
lecture content will be delivered online for student download either
through 'Lecture notes' or
'Lecture guides' section
as a word or pdf file that students can print out prior to class.
Lab
Each student will be responsible for preparing a project to demonstrate
a technique for studying a particular
soilborne plant pathogen and a pathogen
profile for the web in addition to completing other lab exercises.
25%
Grading
The class will use an A, B, C, D, NC grading system with plus/minus
(X0-X2 = minus, and X7-X9= plus). A 10-point grade scale will be
used. A grade of incomplete will be given at the instructors
discretion if unforeseen circumstances prevent completion of a part
of the course requirements.
Attendance Policy
Students are expected to attend class. Notification is requested,
in advance when possible, for missing class due to other class field
trips, field days, professional meetings, sickness, etc. The University
policy on unexcused/excused absences is found at Attendance
Regulations.
Academic Integrity
All students are expected to be honest and adhere to the general
university guidelines regarding academic integrity found in the
Code
of Student Conduct. Instances of academic dishonesty will be
referred to the appropriate University administrator for action.
Honesty and integrity are expected in completion of all exams and
assignments for this course.
Laboratory Safety
Since the assigned classroom doubles as a laboratory, laboratory
safety will be covered in the first class meeting. Students are
expected to ask questions if there are any concerns for safety,
and are expected to comply with any safety requirements dictated
by the instructor and teaching assistant.
Students with Disabilities
Reasonable accommodations will be made for students with verifiable
disabilities. In order to take advantage of available accommodations,
students must register with Disability Services for Students at
1900 Student Health Center, Campus Box 7509, 515-7653. For more
information on NC State's policy on working with students with disabilities,
