Here
are some common questions about the web page and other course
materials...
"Where are the Powerpoint lectures that Dr. Godwin uses in class?"
The presentations I use in class use copyrighted material that is the
property
of the publishers of your text. For teaching purposes, I can use
it in class and make it accessible to you on our internal server, but
cannot
send it out over the web. Just go to the
"Courses" folder that should show up in the 'Novell Delivered Services'
central window on CALS computer desktops to access lectures
and other useful material. You may need to try this on a PC in a
CALS student computing facility (rather than, say, the library).
These can be found in 2719/2720 Bostian Hall, 1400 Williams Hall, and
105 Scott Hall in the vicinity of the lecture room. See the link
below for a complete list of CALS student computing facilities and
hours of operation.
"When I look for new material announced in class, it often does not appear on my web browser."
To speed loading, web browsers store a copy of the page on your computer often. When you go looking for something new and do not find it, you may be looking at an old (a.k.a. 'cached') version. Hit reload and see if that cures the problem.
"When I try to get to the main page for the class, it sometimes says "not found"?
The only reason I can think of for this problem is that the last part of the URL you typed in says '.html' instead of .htm -- All of the files for our web page are saved as .htm. Typing .html will therefore not work.
