Red-tailed Hawk - Adam Hicks
After lab today as James and I were walking to the Atrium for some food, in the field out behind David Clark Labs (in front of MAF building and between DCL and Bostian Hall) perched on the arch near Bostian there was a gorgeous red-tailed hawk with a squirrel in its hands. James and I took some pictures, under it were some entrails and bone fragments from the squirrel. The hawk then flew over and landed on the side of bostian and we followed it and took more pics there and then it flew about 5 ft over my head (I thought I was gonna get hit by the squirrel) and then perched on a light post. It was quite fascinating.

A hawk made a nest in the riparian buffer behind my house. We listened to the young birds' screaming for weeks until they finally fledged around the end of June. Before finally disappearing from our neighborhood, this one graced our flagpole on the morning of July 4th. This is a good example of why you should keep a digital camera handy! I was able to snap a couple of pics of it through the kitchen window before it flew away.
