Dr. Christine Casey

Dr. Christine Casey received her Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of California at Davis where her thesis was on the twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, a study of distribution, host plant interactions and biological control on fresh cut roses. She received her Master's degree from the University of Maryland with her work on azalea lace bug, Staphanitis pyrioides, injury and survival on containerized rhododendron and Master's degree from the Unversity of Maryland where she worked on IPM on greenhouse roses and azalea lace bug, respectively. She has Extension and IPM experience from a former position in New York state. She joined the NCSU faculty in 2001. When not working with the greenhouse or nursery industry, her research interests focus around tospovirus transmission by thrips, Asian ambrosia beetle, and sustainable management practices in ornamentals.
