NCSU's Department of Entomology is a leading department within the College of Agriculture and Life Science. As part of the Land Grant University, the department provides strong teaching, research and Extension components.
Education and research programs provide graduate and undergraduate students with unique hands-on learning opportunities using the latest technologies. The Entomology Extension faculty are among the best and most experienced in a state with one of the highest rated Extension Services. Entomology graduate students learn diverse skills and have excellent job placements in areas of government, academia, and industry.
Currently, Entomology faculty, staff and students are located in eight campus buildings: Gardner Hall, Thomas Hall, Grinnells Laboratory, Method Road Units I and II, Dearstyne Lab, and the Research Annex West, as well as at the Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory. In addition, two faculty are stationed at the Vernon James Research and Extension Center in Plymouth NC and the Mountain Horticultural Research and Extension Center in Mills River NC.
