Have No Fear – Anti-Pesto is Here!

When Wallace and Gromit are asked to take care of a pest problem – they do it humanely.

Wallace and Gromit, with their ingenious inventions and novel ideas, teach us about the new trend in pest management. Their pest control company, Anti-Pesto, deals with ravenous, vegetable-seeking pests in humane ways: Hi-tech sensory gnomes are activated when the pest penetrates the protected premises. This, in turn, results, through a cascade of similarly-hi-tech devices, in the awakening and preparing of the two PMPs – Wallace and his dog, Gromit. They then use several different methods to capture the menacing pests, depending on their numbers (from a grab-it tool to a powerful giant vaccum machine), without harming them. In this town, whose people are preparing for the Annual Giant Vegetable Competition, the only pests are the cute and furry rabbits. Although most of the human inhabitants of the town want to see the worst to happen to the rabbits endangering the welfare of their dear huge vegetables, no such fate awaits the adorable creatures. Wallace and Gromit's way is to put them in pens and supply them with an abundance of fresh, albeit non-prize, vegetables. Later, with the help of Lady Tottington, the hostess of the Giant Vegetable Competition, and the guardian angel of all fluffy creatures, they will be released in the rabbit sanctuary.
As I was watching the movie the possibility of extending the humane pest control practice to the six-legged veggie lovers has crossed my mind. Why not? Don't grubs and caterpillars deserve to be treated as rabbits? Aren't they just as cute? Isn't the world big enough for all of us? Why not provide them with food and shelter, and thus protect our own? Think about it!
