Due to the generous support of the Army Research Office, the IUSSI, and the AAPA, three different awards are available and will be able to provide support for a significant number of students, postdocs and researchers early in their careers. An individual can potentially receive a Travel Award (maximum of $300) and/or a Conference Award to cover registration (cabin rate). There are also two specific awards for honey bee researchers that will cover both travel and registration costs. Individuals can apply to be considered for all three awards, however the two awardees of the honey bee research grants will not be considered for the two other types of grants. Applications will be

judged on scientific merit, abstract quality, and qualifications and need of applicant.

Applications should be submitted as part of the registration process and are due by July 31, 2012 for full consideration.

Travel Awards: Funding from the Army Research Office will provide up to $5,000 in support to students and young researchers to defray travel costs. Awards will be made from $100 to a maximum of $300. Upon receiving proper documentation of travel costs, a reimbursement check will be issued through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Conference Award: Funding from IUSSI-NAS will provide up to $4,000 in support to students and young researchers to cover registration costs for cabin housing ($100/$130).

American Association of Professional Apiculturists IUSSI-NAS Conference Award: Two awards ($500 each) will be granted to students currently conducting research on honey bees in order to cover registration and travel costs.
