Allen Cohen, a leading authority on insect rearing and an adjunct member of our faculty, will teach a one-time course on Insect Rearing in Spring 2010. The ability to rear insects of consistently high quality for research is a fundamental skill essential to most areas of entomology research and teaching. This course will provide a unique opportunity to learn in depth about insect rearing without the frustrating and costly trial and error approach that is so often used.
This would be a 3 credit "special problems" course, (2 lectures + lab each week), designed to provide students a broad and deep set of experiences in rearing of various kinds of insects. It would cover all of the major aspects of insect rearing science and technology.
Students interested in taking this course should notify Pat Bacheler (pat_bacheler@ncsu.edu) at their earliest convenience.
