Ron Kuhr Passes

Led the Entomology department 1980-86

Former Entomology Department Head Ron Kuhr  passed away peacefully Sunday night about 10 pm after a long and valiant struggle against cancer.  

Ron served as our Department Head from 1980-1986 before becoming the Associate Dean and Director N.C. Agricultural Experiment Station 1987-1991.  In 1992, he returned to the Entomology Department where he began developing ENT 201 ("Insects and People") which he turned over to Clyde Sorenson in 2003.  Prior to becoming department head at NCSU, Ron was on the Entomology faculty at Cornell University's NY State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY before he took the position of Associate Director of Research for the NYS College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 3:00pm, in the Ruby C. McSwain Education Center at the J.C. Raulston Arboretum, 4415 Beryl Road, Raleigh, NC 27606.
