Foaling Internship
Foaling interns are responsible for staying overnight to monitor mares when they approach their due date. |
Interns learn how to get the mare ready for foaling by cleaning her up, wrapping her tail, and implanting a foal alert. |
A combination of monitors inside the classroom, web cameras, and overnight stays give interns the chance to see a mare foal. |
Interns are responsible for imprinting the foal for the first few days of life. This gets the foals used to human contact and being handled. |
