Can you imagine wondering where your next meal might come from?
It could happen in the United States, the richest food society in the world --and it has! How about the last time it snowed or a hurricane hit the world you live in? Do you recall the scene -- banging grocery carts with your neighbors, elbowing your way down the aisle to capture the last loaf of bread, carton of milk or dozen eggs? These are the times when we Americans appreciate the value of food. That’s what Food ... For Thought! is all about...food appreciation!
Thanks to agricultural research, Americans enjoy an abundant, safe and economical food supply. The more we understand what a good value our food is, the more we’ll also appreciate the U.S. farmers who provide our food, as well as those who package, process and deliver the product to market. And we’ll see the ongoing value of institutions like NC State University, where researchers and educators in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are using science and technology to ensure that food not only remains safe, economical and plentiful, but one of America’s very best buys!
