Named Gift Opportunities

North Carolina State University and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have set minimum giving levels for specific named gift opportunities.  They are as follows:

To Endow and Name the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Endowments,
Departments and Programs within CALS:

College
At least three-quarters of the endowment must be undesignated to ensure flexibility for the overall enhancement of the College
Minimum $25,000,000

Academic Department
At least three-quarters of the endowment must be undesignated to ensure flexibility for the overall enhancement of the Department
Minimum $10,000,000

Institutes, Programs and Centers
At least three-quarters of the endowment must be undesignated to ensure flexibility for the overall enhancement of the institute, program or center
Minimum $1,000,000

Endowments to Support Faculty

Endowed Chair
A named endowment to create a new faculty position including salary, benefits, research funds, space, etc.
Minimum $2,500,000

Endowed Professorship
A named endowment to provide income, teaching, and research support for an eminent scholar
Minimum $1,000,000

Endowed Associate Professorship
A named endowment to reward and encourage a gifted teacher or scholar early in his/her career
Minimum $500,000

Endowed Assistant Professorship
A named endowment to provide income and recognition for promising young faculty scholars at pivotal points in their careers
Minimum $300,000

Endowments to Support Students

Endowed Graduate Fellowship
A named fellowship to provide support for a student in a graduate program
Minimum $300,000

Endowed Position Athletic Scholarship
A named scholarship to provide support for a student-athlete in a specific position in a varsity sport.
Minimum $250,000

Endowed Partial Graduate Fellowship
A named fund to provide partial support for student positions in the graduate programs
Minimum $100,000

Endowed Caldwell Alumni Scholarship
Endowment to provide an annual stipend for a student on the basis of demonstrated leadership potential, outstanding scholarship, citizenship, and intellectual promise
Minimum $100,000

Endowed Athletic Scholarship
Endowment scholarship to provide support for a student-athlete in a varsity sport.
Minimum $100,000

Endowed Merit Awards Program Scholarship
Endowment to provide a merit/no-need scholarship to recognize exceptional academic ability and talent
Minimum $50,000

Endowed Undergraduate/Professional Scholarship
Endowment to support a named scholarship for a student in an undergraduate program (may be designated merit/no need, merit/need, or need only)
Minimum $25,000

Endowed Undergraduate/Professional Scholarship Award
Endowment to provide partial support for a student in an undergraduate program (may be designated merit/no need, merit/need, or need only)
Minimum $15,000

Other CALS Naming Opportunities

Dean's and Director's Initiative Fund
A named endowment fund to provide unrestricted annual income to support initiatives by a Dean or Director
Minimum $1,000,000

Departmental Enhancement Fund
A named endowment fund to provide unrestricted annual income to support initiatives by a Department Head
Minimum $500,000

Library Support Funds
Funds to enhance the ability to purchase books, materials, and technology needed to sustain the University's intellectual excellence
Minimum $15,000

Endowed Funds
Funds to provide annual income to support various CALS needs and objectives
Minimum $15,000

Naming facilities requires a minimum of one-half the total project cost, or an amount approved by the Chancellor and North Carolina State University Board of Trustees.

In consideration of significant gifts, the naming of an existing building, facility or space may be approved by the Chancellor and the North Carolina State University Board of Trustees.
