History and Activities The North Carolina State University chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta was initiated on 28 April 1955. With over 380 chapter members, the chapter has been active in promotion of scholarship on campus in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the College of Natural Resources every since our inception. In the fall, Gamma Sigma Delta recognizes outstanding scholarship by Freshmen and Sophomores at an evening ceremony and reception. The J. Fulton Lutz Senior Academic Achievement Award is also presented to the most outstanding senior in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the fall ceremony. In the spring, Gamma Sigma Delta holds its banquet and initiation ceremony for new members selected among seniors, graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni, and honorary members from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Natural Resources, and the College of Veterinary Medicine. Certificate of Merits are presented to outstanding members and non-members for accomplishments related to agriculture. The banquet is also the venue for CALS sponsored award presentations for the Kenneth R. Keller Research Award and the Outstanding Teaching Award.
