Graduate Studies in Genetics

About the Department and Area:
The Department of Genetics is a vigorous and highly interactive group of scientists and has an international reputation in molecular, developmental and quantitative genetics. 

The Department has an excellent graduate training program, outstanding graduate students, and a Ph.D. training grant. In the National Research Council's ranking of research doctorate programs, NCSU's program in Molecular and General Genetics was ranked in the top three of the nation's land grant universities. 

North Carolina State University recently established a Genomic Sciences program with both functional genomics and bioinformatics components. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has established a new Genomic Sciences Laboratory and a laboratory animal facility, the Biological Resources Facility

NC State University is located near the world-famous Research Triangle Park, a conglomerate of university and industrial research institutions, which provides additional opportunities for collaborations. The North Carolina Biotechnology Center, located in RTP, provides support of biotechnology research, development and commercialization statewide.  North Carolina State University is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, one of the vertices of the Research Triangle.
