Research Facilities

In addition to modern equipment in individual laboratories, a number of core facilities on the NCSU campus provide state-of-the-art equipment and services. These include:

  • The Center for Electron Microscopy
  • Monoclonal Antibody Facility
  • Nucleic Acid Facility
  • DNA Sequencing Facility
  • Mass Spectrometry Facility
  • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility
  • Cell and Molecular Imaging Facility

Field space, greenhouse facilities and the Southeastern Plant Environmental Laboratory (the phytotron, containing 56 climate-controlled chambers) are available for plant genetics experiments. The new Biological Research Facility (shown below) is available for modern animal housing and care.

The Biological Research Facility

The campus provides an extensively networked computing environment and a wide range of high-speed, high-performance computation systems. State-of-the-art programs are available for statistical and genomic research programs. In addition, researchers at NCSU have access to the NC Supercomputing Center in the Research Triangle Park.
