Note: Research assistantships, as well as fellowships, are
usually in considerable demand. Therefore, completed materials should be sent to
the department as early as possible. Most assistantships and fellowships are
awarded in the Fall semester, so your chances for support are greater if you
apply for Fall admission. Decisions are made
early each spring concerning support for the following Fall semester. To be considered for support, applications should be
completed by December 15
for Fall Semester.
Space is often limited and, at any time, a particular
professor may not have laboratory space available for new students. It is
advised that prospective students correspond directly with those professors in
areas where they may wish to pursue their research and graduate studies.

Department for current information on available sources of funding.
