Formerly in the department of Horticultural Science, with teaching responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate
level courses in postharvest physiology. Research emphasis
is on the postharvest physiology of apples, including ethylene
physiology and biochemistry, ripening, and other changes
characteristic of senescence. Research emphasis was on the postharvest physiology of fruits
and vegetables, including ethylene physiology and biochemistry,
ripening, and other changes characteristic of senescence.
Skin adhesion and postharvest handling in sweetpotatoes
are also research topics. Cooperative studies are done on
cut flower postharvest life.
