Ph.D. 1987 Washington State University

I am an off-campus faculty member located at a research and extension facility near Asheville in the mountains of western North Carolina. I have research and extension responsibilities for commercial vegetables, organics, herbs, and new crops. I also serve as coordinator of the N.C. Specialty Crops Program.

The primary objective of my program is to increase diversity, sustainability, and profitability of agriculture in North Carolina. My program focus is on development of high-value, specialty crops such as medicinal herbs and organic vegetables. Two major projects are the Medicinal Herbs for Commerce Project (http://ncspecialtycrops.org/medherbs) and the Farm Prosperity Project (http://ncspecialtycrops.org/farmprosperity).
