Graduate Degree Information

Horticultural Science

The department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. A thesis based on original research is required for these degrees. Completion of the requirements normally takes two years for the M.S. and three years for the Ph.D.

For students who do not plan further graduate study or who wish to substitute additional course for the research requirements in their graduate programs, the Master of Horticultural Science (M.H.S.) degree is offered. Generally, this is considered to be a terminal degree.

Those interested in applying for graduate school should go to the admissions page.
