How to Apply

We appreciate your considering North Carolina State University and your interest in this training program. Students selected for participation in training programs are selected on a competitive basis and will receive their degree in the discipline of their home department. Applicants interested in this training program can choose from any one of the six host departments listed below. Degree programs are administered jointly by the graduate school and the department from which the degree will be conferred.

Having chosen a department, the applicant should contact that department or its website for specific application instructions as well as consulting the website for the Graduate School for appropriate forms. Indicate clearly on all application materials that you wish to be considered for the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Agricultural biology: Linking Existing and Emerging Technologies. Please feel free to contact one of the following individuals with specific questions regarding the training program.

If you have questions regarding anyone of the subject matter areas, feel free to contact the relevant faculty members. Although we will be able to provide some assistance with the application, you should contact the director of graduate programs in the department that will be processing your application.

Admission to full graduate standing requires at least the following:

1. Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

2. At least a B average in the undergraduate degree program or latest graduate program. Two (2) official transcripts of your complete post-secondary academic record from each institution must be sent directly to the following address:

Graduate School Admissions Office
North Carolina State University
Box 7102

3. Graduate Record Examination scores.

4. Test of English as a Foreign Language scores if applicant's first language is not English. However, students must be US citizen or have permanent residence status.

5. Three references from people who know applicant's academic record and potential for graduate study.

6. Statement of purpose and career goals.

Admission to the program is contingent upon admission to one of the host departments and the Graduate School. Applications will be reviewed by both departmental and training grant admissions committees. Selection depends on evaluation of each student's preparation, ability, and potential to engage in graduate work. Admission to graduate programs at NC State University is competitive.

Graduate Application and Application Fee

Download the appropriate application packet from the NC State University Graduate School's website. If you have questions regarding the application process, feel free to contact Sue Vitello or the director of graduate programs for the specific department.

The packet includes an application form and instructions concerning deadlines and how to submit relevant materials. An application can also be submitted online.

Complete all forms following the instructions provided. You will need to indicate the Department and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in the appropriate sections.
