Stipends & Benefits

Financial support is an important consideration in entering a graduate degree program. Students supported by this training grant will receive a stipend of $18,000 per year. In addition, all fees and tuition (in-state and out-of-state) will be paid and health insurance will be provided to all students receiving a stipend.

Students receiving the training grant stipend qualify for the university's Graduate Student Support Plan (GSSP). The GSSP provides for a paid health insurance policy as long as the assistantship is awarded. Also, the in-state portion of tuition and the out-of -state tuition differential (tuition remission) is for fall and spring semesters as specificed by the guidelines of the GSSP. Students eligible (all non-North Carolina citizens) are expected to apply for North Carolina residency in order to be elligible by the beginning of their second year (i.e., third semester).
