SANREM and IPM Collaborative Research Support Programs (CRSP)
NCSU has been one of the joint entities in two USAID Collaborative Research Support Programs (CRSP’s) for a number of years. These are the Peanut and Soil Management CRSPs. Through the CRSPs it has been possible to collaborate with other universities, and other institutions along with USAID missions abroad in important research affecting agricultural development. In 2005, NCSU also became part of both the SANREM and IPM CRSPs under the management leadership of Virginia Tech University. SANREM focuses on sustainable agricultural and natural resource management. In IPM, the focus is on integrated pest management with the goals of control of insect pests without extensive use of chemicals which might have deleterious effects on the environment.

The four CRSPs mentioned above provide opportunities for our faculty to be involved in timely international projects with a long term scope. Through them, we can make a positive impact in the developing world and at the same time provide benefits to North Carolina.
