Genome synteny tools
Preliminary results suggest considerable macro synteny within the phylum Nematoda, and we are developing the resources to exploit C. elegans genome information. We have generated an extensive linkage map and an 8-fold coverage BAC library of the soybean cyst nematode (SCN: Heterodera glycines); BACs are being fingerprinted for a physical map, which will be anchored to the genetic map. Probing the BAC library with well characterized, SCN genes confirms this is a highly representative library. A BAC library of root-knot nematode is under construction; we anticipate substantial micro-synteny with SCN.
