Active nutritional metabolites and their biosynthesis in grapes

Grapes are one of the top fruit crops with multiple nutritional benefits to human health and creates billions of economic values every year.  A large number of nutritional metabolites are produced in fruit, including proanthocyanidins, hydrolyzable tannins,  anthocyanins, and other phenolic compounds. By collaboration with Dr. Keith Harris, Dr. Sara Spayd, and Ms. Connie Fisk, we are working on these metabolites in muscadine and bunch grapes grown in North Carolina.
