We are interested in gene silencing mediated by geminiviruses and using it as a tool for functional genomics. Two members of Begomovirus genus, Tomato golden mosaic virus (TGMV) and Cabbage leaf curl virus (CbLCV), have been used to induce gene silencing in Nicotiana benthamiana and Arabidopsis, respectively. Now we are focusing on geminivirus-induced silencing mechanisms and how geminiviruses escape silencing in plants.
