Assistantships & Fellowships
We have a limited number of departmental assistantships each fall semester with competition being keen. Also opportunities exist with faculty who have research assistantships associated with grants.
- Students on assistantships receive health insurance.
- In addition, students on an assistantship receive an in-state tuition award and tuition remission, if out-of-state. In-state tuition and tuition remission is available for up to two years for a MS student and for up to three years for a PhD student.
- Students eligible to apply for North Carolina residency must do so to be eligible for residency in their third semester or risk losing their tuition remission status.
- Residency Students are required to register for 9 credit hours each semester until credit hour and full-time enrollment requirements have been met.
