Configuring Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition

Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition is available at no charge to current faculty, staff and students of N.C. State University for use on their work and personal home computers. You can download Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition, using your Unity ID and password to enter the secure site.

While your new computer may have come pre-loaded with an antivirus product already installed, you will eventually be required to purchase a subscription for virus definition updates. In order for an antivirus product to work effectively, you MUST UPDATE THE DEFINITIONS ON A REGULAR BASIS (at least weekly, and preferably daily). The virus definition subscription is paid for you if you download and install Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition from the N.C. State website.

Before installing this software, make certain that you are not using any other antivirus software. If you are using other antivirus software, or EARLIER VERSIONS of Norton antivirus software, UNINSTALL it before installing the Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition. If you have already installed Norton System Works, remove the antivirus portion of the software before installing Corporate Edition. The Corporate Edition will replace the existing antivirus portion of the software, leaving the other utilities intact.

To install the software, double click on the self-extracting file downloaded from the N.C. State website.

The following Acrobat files are available as tutorials for scanning your computer for viruses and for configuring automatic virus definition updates. You must have Acrobat Reader installed to read these files.
