Solving Printing Problems

If you are using a networked printer, you may be unable to print because:

  1. the printer is out of paper, toner, or has a paper jam. Check the printer to make sure it is plugged in, shows "READY" status, and has paper. If not, correct the situation and try again.
  2. the campus network is down or has gone down and come back up since you last tried to print. You may have lost your network connection. Try to login again. Start=>Programs=>Novell=>Novell Login. If you can't login, check with other users in your area to see if they can login or are experiencing network printing problems. If they are, chances are the campus network is experiencing problems. If they are not, please report it.
  3. you have chosen a printer that is no longer available at the original network location. Please contact me for assistance.

If you are using a dedicated printer attached to your computer, you may be unable to print because:

  1. the printer is out of paper, toner, or has a paper jam. Check the printer to make sure it is plugged in, shows "READY" status, and has paper. If not, correct the situation and try again.
  2. the printer cable has become loose or has failed. Try another printer cable, from a printer that is known to work, if you can.
