Research Interests

Forest Pathology and Mycology. Dr. Grand's research involves Phytophthora root rot of Fraser fir Christmas trees and other diseases of trees. Dr. Grand is part of a multidisciplinary team assessing fungal biodiversity in North Carolina state parks and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Other mycological research addresses the biogeography of wood-decay fungi in North Carolina. A revision of the North Carolina Plant Disease Index is progress.
