Research Interests

My current research is focused on understanding how temperature regulates aflatoxin biosynthesis. Aflatoxin is produced in cultures grown in conducive media at temperatures ranging from about 18C to 34C. Temperatures above 37C are not conducive for aflatoxin production in A. flavus. We have been studying gene expression under conducive and nonconducive temperatures to monitor the transcription levels of the aflatoxin biosynthetic genes and other genes associated with aflatoxin production.
