MINERALOGY & CHARGE PROPERTIES OF
DISPERSIBLE COLLOIDALS

Project Objectives

  1. To determine the mineralogy and chemical and physical properties of water-dispersible and total clay (<2µm) fractions from soils and unconsolidated geologic material from the Southern Region.
  2. To determine the surface chemical properties of the colloidal fractions characterized under objective 1, evaluate the relationships between these properties and colloidal stability, and interpret the mechanistic implications of the data with respect to differential dispersion.
