Blackberry Project

PROJECT LEADER(S): Rod Gurganus
TYPE OF PROJECT: On-farm trial
LOCATION: This variety trial is located about 4 miles east of Washington, NC, in Beaufort County. Our cooperators and hosts for the trial are Brad and Jerry Woolard of W&W Produce.

IMPACT

We have no blackberry producers in Beaufort County. We want to build interest on the part of the farmer and the consumer for blackberry production. This could create opportunities for tobacco farmers who are feeling the pressure of shrinking demand for tobacco products and the potential for the end of the tobacco program.

METHODS
