W. R. Jester,
III
Specialty Crops Program Coordinator |
Bill
is an extension associate in the Department
of Horticultural Science at NC State University.
He is located at the Cunningham Research Station
in Kinston. Bill was a key player in starting
the Specialty Crops Program. He started his
tenure as lead coordinator in 2008. His duties
include conducting educational programs and
applied research on vegetable crops, strawberries,
preaches, and grapes, helping tobacco farmer
diversity into vegetable crops. He leads a
major lettuce research program across the state. |

Jeanine Davis,
Ph.D.
Coordinator of Western Activities |
Jeanine is an
associate professor and extension specialist
in the Department of Horticultural Science at
NC State University. She is located at the Mountain
Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center
near Asheville. She served as the coordinator
of the NC Specialty Crops Program from 1999 through
2007. She now oversees the western activities
of the program. Jeanine's efforts are focused
on organic agriculture, medicinal herbs, mushrooms,
high-value specialty crops, and natural biotechnology. |

Nick Augostini
Marketing Specialist |
Nick
is a a marketing specialist in the Division of
Marketeting, North Carolina Department of Agriculture
and Consumer Services. He is located at the Cunningham
Research Station in Kinston. He has worked in
the produce industry for over 30 years. Prior
to working for the department of agriculture,
he was a marketing specialist for the North Carolina
Department of Corrections. Before that, he owned
and operated a wholesale produce business in
upstate New Yori. Duties include promoting products
and developing and expanding markets for the
Specialty Crops Program. |

Brad Taylor
Research Specialist |
Brad
is a research specialist in the Department of
Horticultural Science at North Carolina State
University. He is located at the Cunningham Research
Station in Kinston. He provides technical support
for Bill Jester's program. Duties include gathering
data, setting up and overseeing field experiments,
educating farmers, and assisting extension agents. |

Amy Hamilton
Research Assistant |
Amy
is a research assistant in the Department of
Horticultural Science at North Carolina State
University. She is located at the Mountain Horticultural
Crops Research and Extension Center in Mills River. |

Vicki Heatherly
Research Technician |
Vicky
is a research technician in the Department of
Horticultural Science located at the Mountain
Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center
in Mills River. |

Tammy Baysden
Specialty Crops Program Assistant |
Tammy
is the Specialty Crops program assistant, located
at the Cunningham Research Station
in Kinston. |
