Lodging for the National Convention will be provided by
Brownstone Hotel, which is part of the Holiday Inn chain. The Brownstone is adjacent to the NC State campus,
so it is an ideal place for you to stay during the National Convention. A stop on the university bus system is only
a block from the Brownstone lobby, which is very convenient if you want to
catch a bus to go back and forth from our meetings instead of taking the 10
minute walk each way. Other hotels are
in the area, but you would have to drive to campus each day, and we
unfortunately cannot provide parking, and their rates would probably be
higher than the convention rate that was negotiated with the Brownstone. Since all of the rooms at the Brownstone
were completely renovated in 2002 and many VIP visitors to NC State stay
there, |

we think that you will be pleased with the hotel. The website for the Brownstone provides additional
information on the facility, including pictures of the hotel and a list of
amenities. If you cannot get a room at
the Brownstone or desire to stay elsewhere, please contact us for
assistance. Although the National Convention does not start until
April 4, we expect that many of you will arrive on April 3 to take advantage of
any “Saturday Stay-Over” discounts on flights. Those of you who decide to drive will
probably also choose to arrive on Saturday, since the closest chapter to us
is about nine hours away and registration is 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on
Sunday. We plan to provide an ice
cream social on Saturday night at the Brownstone for those of you who come
early. Maybe all of us can then go to
a movie or do something else for fun if you are not too tired from your
travels. Sixty double rooms (2 beds) are being held for us until
March 15, 2004. Please make
reservations no later than this date to guarantee that you will get a room,
assuming we will need no more than 60 rooms.
The flat rate for 1 to 4 person occupancy is $75 per night plus 13%
tax (total of $84.75 per night). To
obtain this special convention rate, you will have to mention that you are
part of the DTA National Convention.
