Dewatering/Drying/Desalinization

A Pulverizer Air Dryer being used to dry mash from ethanol production in South Dakota.

Pulverizer Air Dryer (PAD) technology is to be used to separate the solid and liquid portions of the waste stream from swine farms and dry the solid portion. This patented technology is being made available by a company called GulfTex. The technology employs a high-speed air stream to separate solids from liquids, dry the solids, then pulverize the solids. The technology is already being used to separate the solid and liquid portions of mash from ethanol plants and waste sludge from paper mills. It is anticipated that a mobile unit will be brought to North Carolina for evaluation in the summer or fall of 2004. The technology will probably be evaluated at North Carolina State University's Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory in Raleigh.
