Master of Zoology

The Master of Zoology degree does not require a thesis and is considered a "terminal" degree which does not provide research training leading to a Doctoral degree. Students in this degree program normally do not continue further graduate work.

Advisor and Plan of Work
The Master of Zoology degree requires one advisor. The advisor and student develop a specific Plan of Work, which must be submitted by the end of the second semester.

A Plan of Work for a Master of Zoology degree must consist of a minimum of 36 hours to include the following:

  • 20 of the 36 hours must be regular courses at the 500-800 level
  • No more than 6 semester hours in Special Problems (ZO631) are to be included in the 36 hour minimum
  • Research hours (ZO695) can not be substituted for ZO631
  • A minor is not available for this degree

RECOMMENDATIONS:
While teaching experience for graduate students at the Master's level is considered valuable and is encouraged, any requirement for teaching experience is at the discretion of the advisory committee.
