The Weed Science Society of North Carolina has created a permanent endowment in the NC Agricultural Foundation, Inc. – part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State University.  Income from the Weed Science Society of North Carolina Endowment will provide support for weed science students and student recruitment efforts at NC State and other relevant universities in North Carolina.

The WSSNC has a long history of supporting student activities, primarily at NC State. A student poster and paper contest is conducted at all its annual meetings.  Travel funds have been awarded to students attending regional and national weed science meetings. Undergraduate paper-writing contests have been held in conjunction with the annual meeting.

Students are the lifeblood of our profession and we need to continue to promote our discipline and recruit students into our field.  In addition, recurring support of our graduate students is critical to enhance their educational experience.  The WSSNC contributed $15,000 to get the endowment started.  This will yield about $600 annually to be used for awards.  We urge you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to the endowment so we can increase the funding available on an annual basis.  If you know of others who might like to contribute to this worthwhile cause, please pass the information on or direct them to the following web site:
